The Volta Times Youth Community recently visited Nyitawuta Basic School in the Akatsi North District as part of our ongoing community engagement efforts. During our visit, we observed some pressing challenges that the school is currently facing, which are hindering the students' ability to learn effectively.
Key Issues Identified:
Lack of Classroom Block for JHS Students: The school currently lacks a proper classroom block for its Junior High School (JHS) students. This critical infrastructure gap greatly affects the learning environment and the overall quality of education.
Inadequate Teaching Materials: There is a significant shortage of teaching materials. Teachers are doing their best under these conditions, but without the necessary resources, it is difficult to deliver quality education.
Lack of Basic School Supplies: The pupils in the basic school are in dire need of essential supplies. Many of them attend school barefooted and do not have books, bags, pens, or pencils. These basic necessities are crucial for their day-to-day learning and personal development.
Our Initiative:
In response to these challenges, the Volta Times Youth Community has decided to take immediate action. We have committed to the following:
Replacing Blackboards with Whiteboards: To enhance the learning experience for JHS students, we plan to replace the outdated blackboards with whiteboards. The cost of each whiteboard is GH¢ 750.00, and we aim to provide two for the school.
Providing School Supplies: We are also seeking to supply the students with new bags, school uniforms, books, pens, and pencils. These items are essential for the students to attend school with dignity and to be fully prepared to learn.
